Emerge America
Emerge America seeks to increase the number of Democratic leaders holding public office in the United States in order to create a truly representative American democracy. In particular, Emerge America is focused on finding new and innovative ways to support Democratic women interested in running for public office. To do this, Emerge America identifies and develops community-based affiliate programs designed to recruit, educate and inspire talented and diverse Democratic women who want to pursue elective office at the local, state and national levels.
Emerge participants across America commit themselves to a seven month long, comprehensive training program. In addition to teaching the skills necessary for a successful campaign for public office, the Emerge America curriculum is unique in its focus on ethics and responsibility in government. Emerge America is committed to providing ongoing, intensive support to its program graduates, including developing an Emerge America network of alumnae, politicians and donors.
Emerge America is positioned for long-term success due to the following factors:
· Need: Emerge is unique because it provides a comprehensive seven month training program on the nuts and bolts of running for office AND a strong network of other Democratic women who are also planning on running for office. There are Republican training programs in 16 states providing this EXACT service to Republican women.
· Proven track record: We have a strong, replicable and sustainable model. Our early successes demonstrate Emerge’s impact: 61% of our graduates hold public office because of Emerge.
· California affiliate: Launched 2002; 3 classes totaling 66 alumni, with 8 runs for office, 4 successful runs (1 running currently), and over 36 appointments to commissions. www.emergeca.org
· Arizona affiliate: Launched 2003; 2 classes totaling 24 alumni, with 14 runs for office, 13 successful bids, and 2 appointments to commissions. www.emergeaz.org
· Grassroots approach: Emerge is committed to making sure that each program is tailored to its community and that community members are stakeholders in the Emerge program. We recognize that one model does not fit all.

Founder
The Election Party, a non-partisan organization working to make this election day a popular holiday and a national holiday by 2008. I've attached a PDF of our mission, enitled "Tradition".
In the meantime, we areworking to give this election day the spirit of a popular holiday by creating an atmosphere of celebration and pride in our democracy on Election Day. We've assembled a network of venues, all throwing "election parties", large and small.
To date we've assembled a network of over 100 bars, lounges, art spaces and other venues in New York City, Los Angeles and Miami to host a simultaneous web of election parties. We aim to infuse the night with the energy of a traditional holidays and events like Thanksgiving and the Super Bowl.
All this to create a movement, an energy that becomes part of the zeitgeist (which evidently, it's already happening). There is tremendous enthusiasm from everyone involved.
No doubt, you're aware of the social component seen in this election cycle. It's truly exciting. Also worth mentioning is the fact that we all share a spirit of camaraderie and civility in terms of the outcome. But outcome is not the point. Whether you rejoice or recoil when the votes are counted, we are all part of the process, and this we feel is worth celebrating.
After Election Day, the Election Party will continue on with its mission to lobby toward making Election Day a national holiday. I've included a PDF explaining our mission (entitled "Tradition").
All venues are listed on our web site: www.theelectionparty.org, with details on specific events to follow. Visit www.urbanpioneerproject.com magazine: issue #2 for more background info.
