A gateway to understanding your country better
Democracy is a form of governance, which has been poetically referred to as a government for the people, of the people and by the people. That means that the people of a democratic country have the power to make decisions for themselves and their country. They have a chance to influence and shape their nations today and tomorrow. This in itself is a huge responsibility; a responsibility so big that every decision should be taken with a lot of consideration and deliberation. But are the people of today’s America ready to shoulder this kind of duty? In this modern day world, one doesn’t seem to have time to give a thought to what is happening in their family member’s life, so where will they find time to think about the country. A simple survey would reveal that almost 3/4th of us have no clue as to what is happening in our government. But then one valid question would be where can we find such information that will help us become more responsible citizens. The various media channels always seem to be giving only a lop-sided perspective. What we need is an unbiased and factual view into the politics of our country and the events of our government. That is where I think a site like www.StateDemocracy.com comes in. It provides us a gateway to understand our country better. Along with information about the legislations and laws being made in this country, it gives us a chance to participate and interact with our elected representatives and various issue groups. It at least makes an attempt to ensure that information is available to us whenever we need it and that I think is the biggest feature of a website like this.

An innovative method for rallying support
The homepage of www.WebLobbying.com proclaims it as ‘The online voice of the people of the US’ and this I think is a very strong statement to make. It is this statement that got me curious about this website. Now days, you will find that there is no dearth of sites where you can voice your feelings. From general blogging websites to specific issue based websites, you can express yourself everywhere. This seemed to be another such website until I started reading some of the lobbies that were put up. The more I read, the more interested I became. Firstly, I must congratulate the people behind this website for the range of topics it covers, from science to politics, history to law; there is something in it to interest people from all backgrounds. Some of the lobbies seemed very important and I immediately found myself ‘taking action’ as they aptly worded it in the website. It was then that I realized there are so many things and issues we are ignorant about. It felt nice to know that apart from just reading up on various issues that need immediate attention; you can also participate in your own way in taking action. Each time you click the ‘take action’ button, an email is sent to the people who have the key to resolving that issue. This I felt was one instance where technology is being put to proper use. Apart from the fact that I could take action, I also found this website very user friendly where in you can first acquaint yourself with the website through a simple demo video. This is very useful for first time users who don’t have a clue as to what they are looking for and don’t know how to go about understanding the website. The website is also clean without too much clutter and hence the main parts – the various lobbies, in this case- get the attention they deserve.
