We are the historic headquarters of the National Woman's Party since 1929. The NWP, established in the final years of the suffrage movement, was, following the ratification of the 19th Amendment, the main women's rights organization in the U.S. until the 1960s. In the post-suffrage era, the primary focus of the NWP was the passage and ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment, authored by NWP founder, Alice Paul, in 1923.
