Dissent
is a small, quarterly magazine, dedicated to politics, and creating
a space for ideas and arguments on the left.
Dissent magazine offers internships all year long. Interns
at Dissent work on all aspects of the magazine, from reading submissions,
to helping select articles and books to review, to copyediting and
proofing, to working on publicity and distribution. Because
we are a small staff, interns are able to get a sense of the magazine
at every level of its development. While there is some less-interesting
work involved (typing, opening mail, handling permission requests),
we hope that the rest of the work keeps it interesting and challenging.
We accept interns throughout the year. Interns commit to
between two and six months at the magazine depending on their availability.
We ask that interns work two days per week, although this can
be flexible to fit your schedule. We provide a very small stipend
($50 week), good company, contacts, and conversation,
and the chance to learn how a magazine functions.
If you are interested in working as an intern at Dissent,
please send us a short letter detailing your experience, a
resume, and the names of two references to my attention at the number
and address listed below.
