My Covenant Place is seeking responsible, self-motivated, and energetic college interns to assist with the Alpha Project. The Alpha Project is a Court Approved and State Certified Violence Intervention Program in Baltimore. The intern will work closely with staff to ensure quality assistance to staff and professionalism to agency clientele. Internship objectives may vary depending on time of year, and are somewhat flexible to meet the needs of the student.
Responsibilities:
Program Assistant ? Answer phone regarding the Alpha Project, schedule appointments, enter information into database, and draft participant letters, in addition to, other clerical duties as assigned.
Victim/Partner Contact ? Call victims of the Alpha Project's program participants to establish a connection between the victim and the program, conduct in-depth telephone interview, inform victims of their rights, our services, as well as, provide additional community resources. Students will conduct risk assessments and complete safety planning with victims. (PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT a counseling position)
Victim Advocate ? Provide supportive services to victims who have multiple needs to include: obtaining housing, employment, court accompaniment, and referrals for community service providers, as well as, advocate to facilitate access to services. (PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT a counseling position)
Staff Intake ? Conduct one-on-one interviews with women and men applying to the Alpha Project; most of our participants are court-ordered based on an assault conviction and/or under a provisional court stet docket. Students will complete a written assessment of each participant that is interviewed.
Anger/Aggression Management Co-Facilitator - Conduct one-on-one interviews with women and men applying to the Alpha Project, co-facilitate anger management groups, take notes of group participants at check-in or during group activities, and prepare participant group assignments. (PLEASE NOTE: This internship is for graduate students only)
Qualifications
College sophomore or above in good academic standing
Interest in non-profit management and/or domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse/neglect issues
Detail oriented, excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills; ability to adhere to deadlines
Ability to work well with staff in a small office and the general public
Ideal candidate will take initiative and is a critical thinker with the ability to communicate well
Requirements
Must be able to work 2 days (minimum); approximately 10-15 hours per week. This may vary depending on agency needs.
Must attend training and submit to a background check
