Job Title: Residential Program Assistant
Organization: Violence Intervention Program, Inc
Region: East Coast
Description: The primary responsibility of the Residential Program Assistant will be to work closely with the Residential Program staff to ensure smooth program operation. This includes, but is not limited to ensuring reports for billing purposes are completed in a timely manner such as attendance sheets, updating the Shelter Occupancy System (S.O.S.) on a daily basis, assisting with intakes, review of inventory at discharges, updating community resources, and conducting general house meetings, etc.

Essential Functions
- Complete and submit necessary billing documents, attendance records, admission, and discharge forms as required by HRA in a timely manner.
- Complete necessary inputs into the Shelter Occupancy System (S.O.S.) as required and update information as needed.
- Complete client extensions request into the S.O.S. and maintain updated information on status of client extensions.
- Provide evening staff coverage at shelter sites to ensure participants adhere to safety precautions, curfew, and other related rules and regulations. Providing appropriate intervention assistance to clients after hours.
- In conjunction with the Program Manager, work to secure donations of furnishings, clothing, equipment, and other items/goods which serve to enhance the facility or the needs of VIP participants.
- Ensuring forms regularly used by staff, including standardized forms, policies and procedures, and notices are centralized and updated regularly.
- Conducting general house meetings to ensure that clients understand fully the rules, regulations and healthy standards of a shelter and communal living. In addition, house meetings will serve as an opportunity for residents to develop independent living skills, access health and preventive education and give input regarding VIP's program.
- In conjunction with staff, work to identify and resolve conflicts, violations and emergencies, in a timely and collaborative manner.
- In conjunction with staff and other agency programs, work to develop and maintain a Resource Guide of services and activities that will enhance the independent living skills and social service needs of VIP participants.
- In conjunction with team members adhere to mandated reporting requirements as they relate to such issues as child abuse/neglect, suicide/homicide concerns, etc.
- Refer and ensure all clients complete health screenings as required by VIP.

Qualifications:
- BA degree in social work, human services, or equivalence in years of experience.
- Fully bilingual required (English/Spanish)
- Experience working with shelters and/or safe dwellings, Department of Homelessness (DHS), Human Resources Administration (HRA) contracts and TANF eligibility preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years experience of direct service in the area of domestic violence and women and children/youth issues.
- Must be sensitive, non-judgmental and empathic towards survivors of domestic violence.
- Capacity to de-escalate and manage crisis situations.
- Genuine desire to work with identified population (e.g., Latinos, low-income, immigrant and people of color); including the ability to deliver culturally competent services.
- Demonstrated public speaking skills.
- Excellent writing, communication, and documenting skills required.
- Flexible schedule is required to meet clients' needs and engage in community outreach activities (i.e., on-call; evenings; weekends).
- Must have the ability to operate office equipment such as computers, copy machine, fax machine, phone systems, etc. with strong internet and software skills; incl. Microsoft Office and client database.
- Must ensure agency, program and client confidentiality at all times.
