Founded in 1979, Family Equality Council is the leading
national organization dedicated to securing justice and
equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT)
parents and their children by advancing social justice for all
families. We work to achieve social and legal equality for
LGBT families by providing direct support, by educating the
public, and by advancing policy reform that ensures full
recognition and protection under the law.
The Program Events Intern is an integral member of the
Programs Team and will play a role in all major Family
Equality Council programming. This unpaid internship
supports the Family Equality Council team by providing
logistical support to the Director of Programs and Programs
Associates. Success in this position requires extremely
developed organizational skills, the ability to problem solve
independently, a team-oriented mindset, excellent
communication skills both verbal and written, superior
interpersonal skills, and a commitment to social justice.
Responsibilities:
Program support: Provide support for the planning and
execution of a range of events and activities, including
oversight of materials (inventory, purchasing, organization,
transport, etc.); evaluations; event logistics (housing, food,
volunteer and participant recruitment, etc.)
Marketing support: Promote programs and events through
social media outlets and emails;solicit ad sales, donations,
and sponsorships for program events; develop and maintain
relationships with community partners
Office systems support: General office system administration
and implementation.
Qualifications: All candidates must have a "can do" attitude,
enjoy a fast-paced environment, be highly organized without
losing sight of larger objectives, and be committed to social
justice and equality for LGBT families. A candidate must be a
strong and effective communicator verbally and in writing,
with strong interpersonal and presentational skills. The
individual must be able to think creatively and strategically
in a changing environment.
Candidates must be self-motivated, high-energy, and
solution-oriented.
Candidates should hold or be working towards a bachelor's
degree.
Some experience planning and executing successful
programs is preferred. |
