Job Title: Marketing/Communications Specialist
Organization: Northern Virginia Association
Region: DC Metro Region
Description: The Marketing Services Specialist supports the Senior Manager, Marketing Services with requests for creative services, marketing, communications, and social media support and activities, and the facilitation of all creative projects across the Academy. This position also requires strong digital marketing prowess, exceptional creative copywriting, and the ability to develop, maintain, and manage customer relationships. The Marketing Services Specialist will support the Senior Manager, with the day-to-day account management.

Reports to

Director, Marketing Services

Facilitate creative projects

-Assign each project to an internal project manager (if necessary) and acts as project manager
-Facilitate meeting(s) between internal client and project manager or vendor if necessary
-Initiate each project in Basecamp project software; add milestones and due dates to Basecamp
-Manage project communications between vendors/contractors, project manager and client
-Work with vendors/contractors to discuss deadlines, new projects, pain points and needs
-Obtain pricing and quotes for projects; provides prices and quotes to project manager
-Review design comps and verify against project orders prior to sharing them with internal clients
-Communicate edits back to vendor from project manager and seek client sign-off on projects
-Continually monitor existing AAPA internal clients, propose relationships and initiate cross promotion to enhance non-dues revenue (NDR) and co-marketing activities.
-In conjunction with the Director of Marketing and Strategic Business Development along with other staff, identify prospective co-marketing opportunities for our membership and NDR activities, and facilitate the exploration of new business ventures, as needed.
-Review past projects and forecast workflow for marketing and communications.
-Engage potential internal AAPA clients in promoting their services with the assistance of AAPA marketing and communications.
-Use forecasted workflows for marketing and communications to proactively approach internal clients for promotional planning purposes.

Client Services

-Perform follow up with internal clients to insure all needs were met
-Conduct internal client customer service survey and report results to MARCOMM
-Facilitate staff trainings on creative services procedures

Qualifications

-B.A. in English, Communications or Marketing
-Minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing, publishing, trafficking, or related discipline
-Well-versed in the types, use and utility of social networking platforms and applications
-Strong analytical, writing, and verbal communication skills. Presentation skills are a must
-Ability to handle many projects simultaneously and independently
-Efficient in bookkeeping/invoicing
-Ability to work in a team atmosphere
-Proficient in HTML coding, Adobe design software and strong working knowledge of spreadsheet programs, and database experience.
