Getting Even: Why Women Don’t Get Paid Like Men—And What to Do About It
by
Evelyn Murphy

Evelyn Murphy, who has a doctorate in economics and is a former lieutenant governor of Massachusetts, explores the wage gap in America. Through true stories and case studies, Murphy illustrates five areas of gender discrimination—“blatant sex discrimination, sexual harassment, workplace sex segregation, everyday discrimination and discrimination against mothers.” She explains how these areas of discrimination are fostered by subtle hidden barriers, unspoken assumptions, and habitual ways of behaving. Murphy explores the wage gap and offers effective suggestions for evoking change and instructs readers on exactly how to “get even.”
