The following is a poem by Kathy Guerra, a student at Cleveland State University in Ohio, which she wrote after registering to vote:

like a scream i see a vote
and many things inspired me to write this note
like a scream voting will catch one off guard
so scream! women worldwide
scream loud and hard
for those too young, encourage them to scream
to their heart's delight
with one instruction "for your freedom always fight"
freedom to one day buy a car
freedom to one day buy a house
freedom to not have to enter a workplace
as quiet and unseen as a mouse
freedom to be what we are
soldiers,soldiers strong and true
i know this..the question is "do you?"
sister, sister
hear my cry
join me now if you find yourself always asking
why , but why
sister, sister
brown, black and white
every race , every origin
history has been made before
i feel it is time to move the world again
through unity, our screams
will become one beautiful, powerful voice
we WILL be heard
clearly, it is one's own choice
tell your family, tell your friends
women are powerful
since way way way back when...
every man could not be
without women they called Mommy
a man with good manners is most likely to been raised
by a single woman working (2) jobs just for food and rent
why, i scream, why then is it to men
promotions are first sent?
embrace your truth
family, history
practice your scream now
and hope for a victory
election day is on its way
women, too, are on the rise
if ever a woman is underestimated
you will be granted a surprise
think of the first time your held a child
asking 'wonder what she'll grow up to be?'
when you vote, you are helping to ensure
a better life for all families
think of all the children with a fighting chance
when their parents are simply unaware
show your love, show that you care
educate them, it goes like this
the more women stick together
the more this nation, (world) will break free
from stereotypes in place of the word minority
we can fight to kick the doors down
on high tuition
raising awareness
should be our universal mission
to relight the flame
in women world-wide
show your inner truth
that long-lost pride
look deep, and you will will discover
that you DO want things to change
well it is simple
and somewhat strange
to just fill out a card
it ain't that hard
the key is to follow through
carry that flame
and light the way
for those oblivious to ways true
i re-registered today
where? @ C S U!!!!
