Thanks to all of you, the Feminist Majority Foundation's Regional Collegiate Global Women’s and Human Rights Conferences were a resounding success! Over 700 activists attended the four conferences from 111 campuses in 23 states with great energy and commitment to making a difference worldwide. Participants examined and discussed international family planning, health funding aid, international treaties for human rights and the environment, sweatshops, and anti-slavery, globalization, peace, and environmental movements. Remember, these conferences were just a part of the work that needs to be done. The next step is to go back to campus and meet with other progressive organizations including the Students Against Sweatshops, the AIDS coalitions, the human rights groups, and the environmental groups to talk about how women’s rights and human rights issues are interconnected and must be included together. Together we can end the Global Gag Rule, refund the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), stop violence against women, and eliminate poverty. Print out FMF's Five Things You Can Do Global Action Kit and Media Strategy, then start organizing. We must build a national constituency for positive US foreign policy.
