Campus Program Background
The Feminist Majority
Foundation (FMF) started the Campus Program to inform young
feminists about the very real threats to abortion
access, women’s rights, affirmative action, and lesbian,
gay, bisexual, and transgender rights posed by right-wing extremists.
FMF works with students on college campuses to effect change
at the grassroots, national, and global levels. The Campus Program
is built upon FMF’s philosophy that the most effective
activism is informed activism, or study to action. Our program
provides
progressive students with opportunities to learn about timely
feminist issues, develop their leadership and organizing skills,
and connect
with the larger pro-choice and feminist movements. Campus Program

Feminist Majority
Leadership Alliances
FMF employs a full-time staff of Campus Organizers to help
students build and sustain pro-choice feminist activist groups
called
Feminist Majority Leadership Alliances (FMLAs). Campus Organizers
also work with existing college feminist groups who wish
to receive the support of a national organization through affiliation.
The
Leadership Alliances and Affiliates constitute a nationwide
network of pro-choice feminist student-run activist organizations.
FMF
is currently working with several hundred college campuses
nationwide and the network is growing every day!

Campus Campaigns
FMLA s and affiliates are united in a national movement through the Feminist Majority Foundation's Choices Campus Program. FMLA s and affiliates work on a range of feminist issues, with reproductive rights as the cornerstone of the Choices Campus Program. Check out the 2006-2007 Feminist Calendar or the below Choices Campus Campaigns for ideas of what you can do on campus:
Regional Global Women's and Human Rights Conferences
The Regional Collegiate Global Women's and Human Rights Conferences will connect the dots between the need to: build a national constituency to increase international family planning and health funding, ratify international treaties for human rights and the environment, combat sweatshops, and promote non-violence and peace. The goal of each of these 1-day conferences is to educate and mobilize young people on a range of foreign policy issues and create a supportive network for progressive U.S. foreign policy. Emergency Contraception (EC) Access Campaign
Students will advocate for increased access to emergency contraception in their student health center and in their local pharmacies by requesting extended clinic hours and advanced prescriptions. In states that do not require prescriptions for EC, students will encourage pharmacists to stock it. Students will also educate their peers about critical reproductive health services for young women.
Student Leadership Campaign
Student government organizations on college campuses wield incredible power – from determining the budgets of student groups to managing student relationships with the school’s top administrators. Electing feminist students to general membership or leadership positions of student government can dramatically change the campus culture. When progressive students take a more active role in the decision making process, progressive student groups receive more access to student funds and other resources, campus women’s rights issues have a reliable voice in student government, campus programming more frequently includes pro-women’s and civil rights activism, and support for equality and tolerance becomes institutionalized in the university system. Make a difference on your campus by electing feminist leaders.
Global Women's Rights
Around the globe women face social, economic and political barriers to reproductive healthcare. Contribute your story to Global Women's Voices
