Watch the new Lifetime movie,
Human Trafficking
Think slavery is a thing of the past? Think again. Human trafficking is a global business - the U.S. government estimates that criminals are making $9.5 billion dollars a year from this industry. Approximately 14,500 - 17,500 people are trafficked into the United States each year, according to the U.S. government. Eighty percent are women and girls.
The Feminist Majority Foundation is partnering with Lifetime TV to encourage you to tune-in for the premiere of Lifetime's first-ever miniseries, Human Trafficking, a two-part film, on October 24 and 25, at 9PM ET/PT. This miniseries, starring Academy Award-winner Mira Sorvino and Golden Globe-winner Donald Sutherland, brings to light the often hidden, but growing problem of the international sale and trade of human beings into modern day slavery.
As part of Lifetime's Emmy Award-winning campaign Stop Violence Against Women, Lifetime has been working for over two years to research and investigate this issue to learn best how to raise awareness of it. Throughout the development and production of this project, the Network convened the writers with the foremost expert governmental officials and advocates working on human trafficking. Thanks to their invaluable guidance and the expertise of veteran executive producer Robert Halmi Sr., the result is a powerful two-night journey into the underground world of human trafficking.
We hope that this miniseries serves as an awareness-raising tool for activists in communities and on college campuses nationwide. We encourage you and your friends to host viewing parties on October 24th & 25th and tune-in at 9PM ET/PT to watch Human Trafficking. Visit LifetimeTV.com to watch a trailer of the miniseries and to download a viewer's guide.
